LG Arena 3D interface: tantalising first look

After the first leaked image and speculative details about the LG KM900 Arena surfaced last week, the really interesting aspect was the possibility of an all new UI called a 3D interface. With no more information to go on, every man and his dog was playing the guessing game as to how this will actually take shape in the finished article. Until now that is. The latest image of the LG Arena to leak from LG clearly shows an active screen showing off the “3D Interface” which resembles a cross between the iPhone 3G and the Sony Ericsson Xperia with its innovative Panel interface.

Though this is just an assumption, it would appear that the Rubik’s Cube style icon in the middle of the touchscreen features different sub menus on each side such as the media gallery which appears in the leaked image. Navigating through the sides of the cube by swiping your finger across the touch screen should allow you to access different areas of the Arena, whilst the four icons at the bottom (Call, messaging etc.) remain ever present regardless of which side you are looking at.

Though all we have to go on is one leaked image, the new 3D interface certainly looks promising. In the end it will all be down to the execution but the LG Arena certainly puts an interesting new spin on the iPhone style multi windowed menu.
